The Arts Council will host a free classical piano recital on Sunday,
March 7 at 3:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Historic 1908 Courthouse
on Main Street in Independence. Taiwanese pianist Hsin-I Huang began
playing the piano at age of seven, and gave his first performance at the
age of eight. He is now a senior in high school at University of North
Carolina School of the Arts studying with Mr. Eric Larsen. Bulgarian
pianist Yoana Kyurkchieva earned her high school diploma at the National
School of the Arts in Rousse, Bulgaria with distinction and continued
her education at the National Music Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria where she
received a Bachelor of Music degree and a Master of Music degree with
distinction. While completing her Master of Music degree she won a merit
scholarship to study at the University of North Carolina School of the
Arts where she is currently earning her second Master of Music degree in
the piano studio of Mr. Eric Larsen. The Arts Council hosts UNCSA
students at its annual Winter Concert Series as part of the UNCSA
curriculum. Attendance of area residents is appreciated. All series
concerts are free and open to the public. Light refreshments are
